Today (15/11), PGS Vietnam, consisting of representatives from farmers, supply chain and coordinating board, arrived at Noi Bai International Airport, ending the mission to attend the INOFO conference -  Intercontinental network of organic famer organisations and OWC-19 th World Organic Congress in India.

 

The World Organic Congress is held every three years in member countries for the purpose of sharing new experiences, knowledge and innovations in organic agriculture. This year, the 19th Congress was held in India.This is the first OWC, which will involve farmers in more than 50 countries from Asia, Africa and Latin America, including Vietnam. In addition to the farmers, the OWC has the participation of a large number of scientists, researchers and officials.

During six working days and visiting the organic farms of the host country of India, the Vietnamese delegation shared the experience from the manufacturing reality and the achievements of Vietnam from the perseverance of pursuing organic agriculture production. On behalf of Thanh Dong Group, PGS Hoi An, Uncle Pham Meo shared about the group and community and youth education activities in Hoi An. In addition, Hoang Thi Hau, a representative from Thanh Xuan Organic Vegetable Production Group, shared her experiences on how to manage leafhopper in organic production during the meeting.

Through the congress, Ms. Tu Thi Tuyet Nhung, Head of Coordination Board PGS Vietnam, sent a research with Cory Withney about the management approach in PGS Vietnam.

The Congress will also elect a new Executive Board for the 2017-2020 term and France will be the winner nation in hosting the 20th Congress. Hopefully, over the next 3 years, Vietnam organic agriculture will be achieved. Many of the achievements, organic farmers in Vietnam will be more confident to participate in sharing experience in Rennes-France, the 20th World Congress of agriculture will be held in France in 2020.
